Shooting In Rural Central Texas Leaves 2 Men Dead


LIMESTONE COUNTY (December 23, 2011)-Two men died Thursday in a double shooting at a rural home near the Limestone County town of Kosse were identified Friday as Mark Tays, 48, of Rosebud, and Roger West, 43, of San Marcos.

Limestone County Sheriff Dennis Wilson released the names late Friday morning.

Authorities earlier said that one man died and another was injured in the shooting.

Limestone County Justice of the Peace Sherri LeNoir pronounced both men dead shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday at the residence at 599 Limestone County Road 706 and ordered autopsies.

Wilson said officers were sent to the address just before 4 p.m. Thursday in response to a report of a domestic disturbance.

While en route, deputies were notified that the fight had escalated and a gun was involved.

When officers arrived they found one man dead outside the residence and another dead inside.

A man was detained at the scene in connection with the shootings but there have been no arrests and no charges have been filed, Wilson said.

Wilson said his officers have interviewed a number of people in connection with the incident and said the investigation in continuing.

The Department of Public Safety crime lab is assisting Limestone County in the investigation.
